Crossroads Christian School - Timeline
Below is a timeline of events in the history of Crossroads Christian School. Because of its newness, Crossroads is increasingly experiencing new growth and opportunities for its students each year. Here are some highlights:
2008-2009
- Looking ahead: Faculty/Staff Bloodborne Pathogen training
2007-2008
- First year CCS began its special education program. CCS adopted the Discovery Program through the National Institute of Learning Development (NILD) - "Producing competent and confident life-long learners." Training began in September 2007 and the first student started March 2008. Beth Hodges & Becky Knutson completed the training.
- Athletics: First time we had a Varsity Boys Baseball team.
- Science fun: First time 8th graders shot rockets!
- May 13, 2008: High Cotton was the first ever spring musical.
- Fifth Grade: 1st trip to the NC Zoo &
first Celebration Lunch at Golden Corral in Henderson to acknowledge completing 5th grade and moving up to 6th grade.
- First time for a major middle school field trip -- 7th & 8th grades toured Washington, DC, April 8-11, 2008 by bus with American Christian Tours. Because one student had an uncle in the Marines, this group was also privileged to visit the Quantico Marine Base and see the Presidential helicopter squadron, up close!
- Third Grade: We wrote and published our own book!
- Created a new chapter of the National Beta Club (Junior & Senior Division). 74 new members inducted April 4, 2008.
- First Homecoming Court on January 18, 2008. Chris Hughes & Caroline Craft were crowned King & Queen.
- February 2008: Bryan College Worldview Conference
- Library collected over 2,000 books for the library in its 2nd annual book drive.
- Art: Students competed in State Fair, Wild Life Calendar Competition, ACSI Art Festival (3 best in Show), created a Coloring Book for Bugs Island Recreation Department at Kerr Lake, (will receive coloring book in Fall of 2008), and competed in Pine Tree Art Competition Magazine.
- First Veterans' Day all-school assembly.
- First Faculty/Staff CPR/AED training.
- First Red Cross Blood Drive in May 2008.
2006-2007
- First time for a major elementary class field trip -- 4th and 5th grade toured Washington, DC.
- Began active ACSI Accreditation process.
- First Pastor Appreciation Chapels/Breakfasts
- Began the annual seventh grade Wax Museum.
2005-2006 (First Year of School)
- First ACSI Spelling Bee
- First ACSI Math Olympics
- First ACSI Art Festival
- 5th Grade "Sound to Sea" field trip
- Faculty/Staff monthly birthday celebrations
- First See You at the Pole
- First observance of the National Day of Prayer
